With each workshop given by Trina and her colleagues, I become more and more enthusiastic about taking and printing images. Trina has the ability to bring out the photographer in all of us.

I loved this course. I had never picked up a manual camera in my life-and now I only use it. So the technical component was excellent-obviously because I was learning from scratch, and now I'm not scared of the camera! You both are excellent instructors because you make the course more comfortable than formal-makes it easier to ask questions.

Overall, I feel like I learned more in this 7-week course than in my entire 3 years of university, because it's knowledge that will stick with me!

I appreciated the discussion about creativity vs. "pure" artistic talent. The overall approach of both Laura and Trina emphasized evidence of "creativity" in participants, rather than artistic talent. I looked forward to coming to class each week and found the assignments fun and challenging. I'm sad that it's over! This course helped me to believe that I have some talent.

The enthusiasm and passion both instructors have for their work and that of the class participants made for an inspiring atmosphere.

Thanks for a really great course. Your generosity in sharing your knowledge was truly amazing. I don't consider myself to be a very creative person, although it is something that is important to me. Your encouragement and support made me think there might be some potential, so I'm learning to enjoy the process a little more, rather than being disappointed with my shots.

You never tried to impose your style on us. In fact it was the opposite as you made it clear that we each had to develop our own style. Also your encouragement to try different things, different themes, etc. Previously I was just trying to get good shots but more in a "point and shoot" manner. Now I'm really trying to think composition, light, extraneous details, moving around to try different perspectives.

I enjoyed seeing the books, slides of different portraits. Including controversial photos was also good since it made us think. I do think taking the course has helped me take better shots. See you in the darkroom.

I noticed that you would give people certain assignments or challenges based on what they did weekly, making it really personal and helping us develop in the area we need to. I found the critique class will help me take photos differently. The one-on-one time was amazing-I like having 2 instructors!
